Our Yarns Priced per Gram: Which yarns are actually the most affordable?
Sometimes people ask us which yarns are our most affordable, and the answer is more complex than you might think. Since yarns can come in different skein sizes, sometimes it's not as simple as comparing the price per skein of two different yarns.
Take for instance Galler Yarns W.O.W. which is $48 per skein. Even though it's our third most expensive skein at both our stores combined, because it comes in a whopping 227 gram skein it's actually on the lower end of the price per gram list (#28, out of 120 total)!
Compare this to one of our cheapest skeins in both shops: Yarnalia Joy at $6.25 per skein. It actually lands at #48 on our price per gram list! Not the least expensive, but still not the most expensive either by far.
A while back we started adding the price per gram to our yarn's price signs in both our stores. It's been really useful to our in-store shoppers, so we thought we'd put the information online as well! We wrote up a list of all our current yarns (as of August 2026) and listed them, by their price per gram, so you can see how each yarn ranks. See the list below!
Of course, there are many other factors to consider when you're looking at why a yarn is priced the way it is: how many yards it has, how it's spun, and the fiber content all heavily contribute to what you're getting when you buy a skein. Price per skein is just one factor to consider, but a very worthwhile one!
