Learn how to knit a hat in the round for a fun, quick project to level up your knitting skills! This project will teach you how to cast onto circular needles and join to work in the round, knit a rib, and shape the hat with various kinds of decrease stitches. This is a great project to learn the different methods used for knitting in the round on small circumferences, including using double pointed needles and the magic loop method.

Pattern: Ribbed and Marled Hat No. 2, or any other basic hat pattern. We have several in store to choose from! Receive the pattern you choose for free when you sign up for an open studio to learn this project.
What you will learn: joining and working in the round, knitting & purling in the same row, using double pointed needles or the magic loop method, and a few decrease stitches.
Required Experience: you must be very comfortable with casting on (preferably the long tail cast on), and the knit stitch to accomplish this project. Knowing how to purl is a big plus, too, but not necessary!
Required Yarn and Tools: You will need 220 (or 260) yards of fingering weight yarn held double for the adult small (or large) size of this pattern, or about half of that yardage if using worsted weight yarn held single.
We used Woolfolk Tynd in colors #13 & 14 in our hat!
You will also need US 9 / 5.5 mm 16" circular needles and US 9 / 5.5mm double pointed needles or 32-40" circular needles.
