Brioche Hat No. 2

This brioche hat is the best way to learn brioche for the first time. Surprisingly, using two colors makes it easier to understand the different stitches, and working in the round simplifies the pattern.

Brioche is a squishy, two-sided fabric which means this hat is reversible! Each side has a different dominant color.

Black & white hat pictured is Adult Large size. Yellow & white hat is Adult Small size.

casting on, working in the round, knitting, brioche knitting, brioche purling, brioche decreasing, working in the round on small circumferences, weaving in ends.

YARN
122 (174) yards total of bulky weight yarn:
61 (87) yards each of two colors
+ an additional 50 yards total for optional pom pom (25 yards each of two colors for multi-colored pom pom)

NEEDLES
US 10 / 6 mm 16” circulars
+ same size in double pointed needles or longer circulars for magic loop

GAUGE
3 sts & 4.5 rounds per inch in brioche rib before blocking

NOTIONS
scissors, darning/tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker
