Classic Sport Hat No. 2

This is a classic hat knit in the round from the bottom up. For Child–Adult Large sizes you'll use 16" circulars until about halfway through decreasing, then switch to double pointed needles or longer circulars and the magic loop method to finish the decreasing. The Newborn and Baby sizes are so small you have to use DPNs or magic loop for the whole hat.

TECHNIQUES USED
casting on, working in the round, knitting, purling, knitting in a rib, knit two together (k2tog), working in the round on small circumferences, weaving in ends.

YARN
120 (140, 170, 190, 220, 260) yards of sport weight yarn

NEEDLES
US 4 / 3.5 mm 16” circulars (for Child–Adult Large sizes)
US 4 / 3.5 mm double pointed needles or 32–40” circulars (for all sizes)

GAUGE
7 sts & 9.5 rows per inch in stockinette after blocking

NOTIONS
scissors, darning/tapestry needle, 10 stitch markers (1 unique for beginning of round)

MEASUREMENTS
Fits 15–17 (17–18.5, 18.5–20, 20–21.5, 21.5–23, 23–24.5)” heads
