How This Craft Circle Works
How This Craft Circle Works
This event is a lightly guided craft circle where everyone is making a similar project.
Attendees should feel confident making their project mostly on their own. A host will be present to answer questions, and offer some advice and help as needed, but there won't be any formal instruction provided.
If you are interested in signing up for in-depth instruction, sign up for a class with Cleo here!
Saturday, June 20th, 2 - 4 pm
Are graphic tees all you wear? Do you keep seeing cute knitted tops online? Do you want to spice up and customize your own hand knits? Follow host Deanna (@stitchesbydeebo) in using the Duplicate Stitch, a simple embroidery/color work technique used to add pixel motifs or text to knitwear.
This is a beginner friendly technique, though previous knitting experience is required. We won't be knitting, but you should understand how to "read" your knitting and identify knits from purls. Duplicate stitching is very similar to weaving in ends.
This craft circle will be held on Saturday, June 20th, from 2 - 4 pm, and will include $5 off your first cafe drink!
PATTERN
Some images and charts will be provided, but we encourage everyone to search for "pixel charts" or "pixel art" to find something that speaks to you! We strongly encourage starting with an image no larger than 30 x 30 pixels/stitches.
WHAT TO BRING
- Knitted material (sweater, hat, flat panel, etc.) to duplicate stitch on. Note than woven or crochet fabrics do not work for this technique.
- Tapestry/Darning Needle
- Yarn of your choice, matching the colors of the image you want to make. Your yarn should be the same weight or slightly thicker than the yarn of the fabric you'll be adding your image onto. Our staff can help you pick out good yarn to use at the shop before the circle starts!
Each ticket includes $5 off your first cafe drink!

Photography
When you attend a make-along at our shop you agree to be recorded and photographed during the event. If you would like to request that your face, hands, or body not be in any photos or videos that we share on social media please send an email requesting so any time prior to the start time of the class to hello@cleosyarnshop.com. You may still be recorded or photographed during the class but we will respect your request that the videos or images of you not be shared online.
Scholarship Fund
Our Scholarship Fund is contributed to by the shop and our community to help those who need it attend our classes and events. You can read about why we started the fund here.
When signing up for a class or event, anyone is welcome to purchase a Scholarship Fund ticket at a discount as funds allow. When a Scholarship Fund ticket is purchased, the amount discounted is taken from the Scholarship Fund to pay the shop, the shop's staff, and the teacher or host of the class or event the full regular ticket price.
If you are considering requesting a Scholarship Fund ticket but aren't sure whether it's for you or not, it probably is! The folks who have contributed to the Scholarship Fund wanted to contribute and want the funds to be used! And the lovely people putting on this class or event are still getting paid the full amount to do it. Please only pay full price if you feel you have enough to do so.
That said, we also ask that you be mindful of the amount and frequency of requests you make from the fund. Making sure funds are available to as many people as possible is a collaborative effort, so we'll check in with you and you check in with us!
If you'd like to use the Scholarship Fund, you can do so by calling the shop (929-529-7542), emailing us (hello@cleosyarnshop.com), or coming into the shop and requesting a Scholarship Ticket. We will ask you how much you are able to pay, and the funds available will cover the rest.
