Beginner's Knit Hat

Learn to knit and make a chunky hat in this easy workshop for beginners! These big hats are a great first project: super easy to make and they work up so fast! You don't need any experience to take this class.

You will get started on your hat in class then finish it at home at your own pace. We will demo how to finish your hat at the end of class. If you'd like help finishing your hat when you get there you are welcome to stop back in the shop for some help, or sign up for Open Studio.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The long tail cast on, joining to work in the round, the knit stitch, finishing the top of a hat, and weaving in ends. Optional: simple decreasing/knit two together (k2tog).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
None! You don't need any knitting experience to take this class. Must be 9 years or older.

MATERIALS - available for purchase at the shop
One ball of Loopy Mango Merino No. 5, or at least 74 yards of another super bulky weight yarn.

TOOLS - available for purchase at the shop
One set of US 17 / 12 mm or US 19 / 15 mm 20" circular knitting needles.
