Learn any pattern, project or technique in this customizable class with Cleo!

All skill levels, including absolute beginner, are welcome. Cleo can help with any knitting, crocheting, rigid heddle weaving, tapestry weaving, and punch needling technique.

You can be an absolute beginner or looking for expert tips for your most complicated project. Bring a WIP you're stuck on, or get a refresher on a technique you've forgotten. You're also welcome to come in for moral support & expert supervision if you're wary about trying something new by yourself. Cleo has been teaching for over 15 years and can help with pretty much anything you can think of!

Each of these classes is a small group session where everyone gets one-on-one help that Cleo tailors to each person's skill level and learning style.

If you are not sure how many sessions to book, or don't see available sessions that work with your schedule, you can email cleo@cleosyarnshop.com for assistance!

We recommend you purchase a single session of 1–2 hours if:

You are a beginner who has knit or crocheted before and you just want a refresher to make sure you're doing things correctly.

You need help with one specific technique for a project you're in the middle of.

You are not sure how many classes you'll need and want to create a customized lesson plan with Cleo before booking multiple sessions.

We recommend you purchase a class pack (with a bulk discount!) if:

You are an absolute beginner in any craft (we recommend a 3-class pack).

You want help on a small to medium sized project from start to finish (we recommend a 3 class pack).

You are already in the middle of a larger project that you know you'll need help with at multiple points (we recommend a 3 class pack or 6 class pack).

You want to help with a large or complex project from start to finish (we recommend a 6 class pack).

BEST!!!

I absolutely love taking knitting classes with Cleo! She is incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. English is not my first language, but Cleo explains everything so clearly and patiently that I can easily understand and follow along. She always makes me feel comfortable asking questions, even when I need something explained more than once.

I currently take a two-hour class twice a week, and honestly, I wish there were classes every day! That's how much I enjoy learning with her. The two hours always go by so quickly because the class is so much fun.

I genuinely look forward to every class, and my only complaint is that twice a week is just not enough! 😊 I’m so happy I found Cleo and would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn knitting in a warm, patient, and enjoyable environment. ❤️

Sunday mornings in Ridgewood

I enjoy the Sunday Ridgewood sessions: a comfortable learning environment for serious craft devotees. Knitters, weavers and stitchers of all types working together. I even like the Sunday morning drive from my home in Brooklyn through the different, colorful neighborhoods into Queens. It's been a complete joy.

And, I'm learning a lot. When faced with an unruly stitch I ask myself "What would Cleo do?" Well, as if to say, "Who's the boss around here, me or this yarn?" Cleo would fearlessly tackle the errant stitch and find a solution. That kind of attitude helps to solve issues in my own work!

If I may make a suggestion: Three (3) students in a single one hour session is enough. With more than three, I feel I am not getting enough attention.

As needs arise, I look forward to joining additional sessions. Congratulations on this new expansion! Cheers! Sharon

Class Policies

Wait Lists

If a class is full we are happy to add you to the wait list in case someone cancels. Send an email with the name and date of the class to hello@cleosyarnshop.com to be added.

Cancellations

We are happy to offer you a refund or store credit for any class sign up as long as you give us notice at least 48 hours before the start time of the first session.

In order to pay our teachers for their time & effort, we cannot offer refunds or store credit for any late cancellations. However, if the situation was out of your control and you want to come to another class instead, we can sign you up for a future class using our Scholarship Fund which is available to everyone (read more about our Scholarship Fund below).

Many of our classes have a minimum number of sign ups required to run. If a class doesn't get the required number of sign ups to run and we decide to cancel or post-pone the class we will notify those who did sign up via email between 24–48 hours before the class's start time and offer them a seat in the next class, a refund, or store credit.

Photography

When you attend any event at our shop you agree to be recorded and photographed during the class. If you would like to request that your face, hands, or body not be in any photos or videos that we share on social media please send an email requesting so any time prior to the start time of the class to hello@cleosyarnshop.com. You may still be recorded or photographed during the class but we will respect your request that the videos or images of you not be shared online.

Scholarship Fund

Our Scholarship Fund is contributed to by the shop and our community to help those who need it attend our classes and events. You can read about why we started the fund here.

When signing up for a class or event, anyone is welcome to sign up for a Scholarship Fund ticket at a discount as funds allow. When a Scholarship Fund ticket is purchased, the amount discounted is taken from the Scholarship Fund to pay for the shop's daily operating costs and our staff for their time & effort put into the event.

If you are considering requesting a Scholarship Fund ticket but aren't sure whether it's for you or not, it probably is! The folks who have contributed to the Scholarship Fund wanted to contribute and want the funds to be used! And the lovely people putting on this class or event are still getting paid the full amount to do it. Please only pay full price if you feel you have enough to do so.

That said, we also ask that you be mindful of the amount and frequency of requests you take from the fund. Making sure funds are available to as many people as possible is a collaborative effort, so we'll check in with you and you check in with us!

If you'd like to use the Scholarship Fund, you can do so by emailing us (hello@cleosyarnshop.com). We will ask you how much you are able to pay (zero is an acceptable answer!) and the funds available will cover the rest.
