How This Craft Circle Works

This event is a lightly guided craft circle where everyone is making a similar project.

Attendees should feel confident making their project mostly on their own. A host will be present to answer questions, and offer some advice and help as needed, but there won't be any formal instruction provided.

If you are interested in signing up for in-depth instruction, sign up for a class with Cleo here!

Have you noticed how many incredible filet crochet pieces are being made lately? Interested in trying it out for yourself? Or maybe you're a filet crochet master already who wants to meet other filet crocheters! Either way, we'd love to have you join us this summer for our three-week Filet Crochet Craft Circle! This is a lightly guided meetup for crocheters who want to hang out with other makers, swap tips, and share inspo for all things filet crochet.

Each ticket includes $5 off your first drink at our cafe!

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
You should already feel comfortable doing chain stitches and double crochet on your own.

SUGGESTED MATERIALS
We recommend using a lace weight cotton yarn like Circulo Cleá (available at our Bushwick location where this craft circle is held) or Ito Gima (available at our new second location: Rory's in Ridgewood).

Need help picking out materials? Come by 15–20 minutes before each session and we’ll help point you in the right direction!

PATTERN IDEAS
These are not our patterns, please purchase/download them on your own if you're interested in making any of these projects!

You can also check out our inspiration board here for more ideas on what to make!

CRAFT CIRCLE STRUCTURE
This craft circle will be hosted by Cleo. While no formal instruction will be provided as this is a more social event, they will be available to answer questions and offer advice if you need it!

LEARN FILET CROCHET IN A CLASS
If you are interested in getting an in depth filet crochet lesson from Cleo you can sign up for a class with them here. You can take the class before this craft circle starts, or take it concurrently. In the class you'll learn how to read a filet crochet chart, how to design your own chart, the different types of stitches you can use in filet crochet and the benefits of each one, and how to incorporate a filet crochet design into a garment or accessory.

Photography

When you attend a make-along at our shop you agree to be recorded and photographed during the event. If you would like to request that your face, hands, or body not be in any photos or videos that we share on social media please send an email requesting so any time prior to the start time of the class to hello@cleosyarnshop.com. You may still be recorded or photographed during the class but we will respect your request that the videos or images of you not be shared online.

Scholarship Fund

Our Scholarship Fund is contributed to by the shop and our community to help those who need it attend our classes and events. You can read about why we started the fund here.

When signing up for a class or event, anyone is welcome to purchase a Scholarship Fund ticket at a discount as funds allow. When a Scholarship Fund ticket is purchased, the amount discounted is taken from the Scholarship Fund to pay the shop, the shop's staff, and the teacher or host of the class or event the full regular ticket price.

If you are considering requesting a Scholarship Fund ticket but aren't sure whether it's for you or not, it probably is! The folks who have contributed to the Scholarship Fund wanted to contribute and want the funds to be used! And the lovely people putting on this class or event are still getting paid the full amount to do it. Please only pay full price if you feel you have enough to do so.

That said, we also ask that you be mindful of the amount and frequency of requests you make from the fund. Making sure funds are available to as many people as possible is a collaborative effort, so we'll check in with you and you check in with us!

If you'd like to use the Scholarship Fund, you can do so by calling the shop (929-529-7542), emailing us (hello@cleosyarnshop.com), or coming into the shop and requesting a Scholarship Ticket. We will ask you how much you are able to pay, and the funds available will cover the rest.
