Yarn Embellishments Workshop

Yarn Embellishments Workshop

We teach this lesson plan at our recurring Intermediate & Advanced Knitting Class. Sign up for your first session here to get started on this project!

Fancy learning the skills to make your projects a touch... fancier? Welcome to Yarn Embellishments, a workshop where you'll learn all the special little additional stitchy skills needed to take your sweaters, socks, blankets, balaclavas, and anything else you can dream of, up a notch or two!

Each student should bring at least one handmade project they want to embellish. The fabric of the pieces should be able to be pierced by a large darning needle without leaving holes or ripping the fabric (some machine-made items will work, some will have fabric that is too thin).

Pieces made in plain, flat stitches are the easiest to work on (like knitted stockinette or single crochet). Projects can be finished or still in progress! Alternatively, if you want to make a swatch to practice on, we recommend making one that is at least 8" x 8".

SKILL LEVEL
All skill levels welcome! Those unfamiliar with knitting, crocheting, or weaving are welcome to bring projects to embellish that they did not make themselves.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The running stitch, duplicate stitch, crochet chain overlay stitch, and cross stitch.

INCLUDED MATERIALS & TOOLS
Small bits of yarn for embellishments and darning needles will be provided for use during the workshop. Additional yarn & darning needles to take home will be available for purchase.
